The Sapphires is a 2012 Australian musical comedy-drama produced by Goalpost Pictures and distributed by Hopscotch Films. The Sapphires is based on the 2004 stage play, which is loosely based on a true story. Starring Jessica Mauboy, Deborah Mailman & Chris Odowd.
Ann and I both really enjoyed The Sapphires. I was actually expecting it to be yet another feature length musical. For those who have listened to The Sound of Movies will know, I am generally NOT a fan of musicals so I did not have high hopes for this movie. Well, was I wrong. This is a spectacular movie with a great story most certainly worth telling. I was certainly glad I watched The Sapphires. Thank-you to Ann for convincing me to watch this great Aussie movie.
