Sound of Movies – Captain Corellis Mandolin hosted by Ashley Wincer and Ann Pulbrook.
Captain Corelli’s Mandolin is a 2001 epic war film directed by John Madden and based on Louis de Bernières’ 1994 novel titled Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. Starring Nicolas Cage and Penélope Cruz. The opening title of the film is dedicated to the thousands of Italian soldiers executed by German forces on Cephalonia in September 1943 and to the people of Cephallonia who were killed in the post-war earthquake. Both Ann and I enjoyed Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and highly recommend this movie. Partly based on true events, such as the Italian and German occupation of Greece during World War 2 and the major Greek earthquake of 1953. Also we are both huge fans of Louis de Bernières’ work on the Australian movie Red Dog. Which is another movie we both highly recommend. If you have the time, this movie is most certainly worth watching.
